Diffraction Limited designs and manufactures astronomical and scientific imaging cameras used worldwide in medical instrumentation, research laboratories, and observatories.

We are seeking an experienced Electronics Assembler to support production at our facility in Ottawa, Ontario. This is a full-time position (7.5 hours/day, Monday to Friday).

Responsibilities

• Perform electronic and mechanical assembly of precision products (including PCB, cable, and enclosure assemblies)
• Load firmware and carry out functional testing of completed units
• Follow detailed work instructions, assembly drawings, and test procedures
• Inspect and verify assemblies to ensure high standards of workmanship and reliability
• Maintain a clean, organized, and ESD-safe work environment
• Assist with troubleshooting and rework as required
• Lift up to 50 lbs as needed

Qualifications

• Proven experience in electronics and mechanical assembly in a manufacturing environment
• Strong soldering skills (through-hole and fine-pitch SMT; IPC standards an asset)
• Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, schematics, and written procedures
• Experience with basic test equipment (e.g., multimeters, power supplies)
• Comfortable using Windows-based computers and application software
• Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills

Nice to Have

• Experience with precision or optical assemblies
• Familiarity with ESD control practices and quality systems
• Experience in low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environments
